On my 40th birthday (more than 20 years ago...) I received an inspirational present: a weekend introduction to watercolours. I discovered my passion for painting! Since then I have drawn and painted continuously and at the end of 2010 left my career in charity finance and started to paint full time. I have attended numerous courses and classes, including a summer foundation course at the Slade. My pictures also benefit from nuggets of wisdom received from fellow artists, friends and passers by.
I mainly paint in oil and pastels inspired by people and landscapes, shapes and movement. I love to paint outdoors by the sea, on Hampstead Heath and in Devon. And whenever I can, I seek sunshine in warmer countries.
I look to respond to and describe the beauty of our precious natural world, energy, rhythms, patterns and colours.
